Rebecca Pollet – President

Rebecca is an initiate of the Lambda chapter where she served as Recording and Corresponding Secretary. She was voted Lambda's Outstanding member and received the honor of National Outstanding member in June 2007. At the same convention, she was elected to the National Board of Regents as Historian. Since then she has also served as Custodian, Editor -in-Chief, and First Vice-President. She received a Bachelor's of Science in Biochemistry from the University of Tulsa in 2011. She is a member of Kappa Delta sorority and served as Secretary, Vice President-Operations, and President of her collegiate chapter. She is currently attending the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in pursuit of a Ph.D. in biochemistry. Her husband Lucas is currently training to be a barber.

Dana Taliaferro - Vice President- Philanthropy

Dana Smith Taliaferro was a member of the Alpha Omega Chapter in Winnfield, LA.  She says she can still vividly remember the Rush Kidnapping in the summer of 1967.  How fun is it that so much of DBS remains the same today.  She served her chapter as Vice-President and Reporter as well as "a hostess" at the final banquet at convention in Biloxi, Mississippi, June 1970. Dana has been married to Dr. Van Taliaferro for 35 years.  Their daughter, Sloane, was President of Tau, Outstanding National Member, and served on the National Board of Regents for four years.  Dana's involvement in DBS started again when Sloane was Recruited in 2003.  She has served as Chapter Mother, Financial Mother, Scholastic Mother, and Tau Chapter Advisor for two years. 

At Grace Episcopal Church, Dana has served as Altar Guild Director since 2003 through the present. In the Monroe-West Monroe community, Dana has been a member of the Junior League of Monroe since 1983.  She has held many offices and chairmanships including President, Treasurer, Corresponding Secretary, and Co-Chair of the League's, Sustainers-on-Standby group. She is a member of the Monroe Garden Club and the Luncheon Club.  She was Girl Scout leader for many years, Room Mother for eight years, Medical Auxillary, and worked in her husband's office for fifteen years as Office Manager.  

Hannah Gissendanner - Vice-President Sisterhood

Hannah Gissendanner is an alumni member of the Tau Chapter and served as Rush/Convention Chair and Recording Secretary during her years as an active member. She was also voted her chapter’s Outstanding Member and was honored to be named the National Outstanding Member during convention in 2013. That same year, she was elected to serve as Custodian for the National Board of Regents. Hannah is an honors student at Louisiana Tech University where she is studying English with intentions of becoming a high school English teacher. She also pledged the Alpha Chi Chapter of the Kappa Delta Sorority during the fall of 2014. Hannah is also a Big Sister for the Big Brother Big Sister Foundation, and she is actively involved in Louisiana Tech’s Baptist Collegiate Ministry.

Valerie Davis - Secretary

Valerie is an initiate of the Alpha Beta Chapter.  She served her chapter as their Assisstant Pledge Mistress in 1980 and Pledge Mistress in 1981.  Valerie later served as Alpha Beta's Head Mom in the late 80's and again in 2009, serving in various mom positions in the years between.  Valerie was elected to the National Board of Regents in 2011 in Hot Springs, Arkansas. 

Valerie and her husband, Tony, live on their family farm where they have raised an abundance of crops but most importantly two children - one son, who was a DBS sweetheart and graduated from the University of Central Arkansas, and a daughter, who served her chapter as president and graduated from the University of Mississippi.  Her constant companion these days is a lab named Zoey.   In her spare time, Valerie enjoys traveling, spending time at the lake and spending time with her family. 

Millicent Shankle - Treasurer

Millie currently serves as the National Secretary/Treasurer. In June, 1992, she was elected to the National Board of Regents to serve as the Historian. Other offices held are Editor-in-Chief and Second Vice President. For several years, she has been appointed as Convention Chairman. The Majestic Hotel in Hot Springs, AR nominated her as one of the Convention Planners to watch in the year 2005. Millie is in her twenty-third year of serving on the Board.

In high school Millie served as the president of her chapter and represented the chapter as outstanding member. Convention that year was at the “grand” Peabody in Memphis and Millie will never forget how nervous she was during the presentation.

Millie is a Career/Technology teacher in the Mobile County Public School System. She serves as a sponsor for FBLA and serves on the Alabama State FBLA/PBL Administration Board. Other clubs she has served as an advisor to are Key Club and SWAT.

Millie’s undergraduate degree (BBA) is from Baylor University in Waco, Texas. In 2003, she completed her masters in the Art of Teaching from Nova Southeastern University. This degree was completed online. Her advice is that you are never too old to reach your goals and that you can be a life long learner.

Millie has been a widow for 16 years, but she stays busy with her children and grandchildren who live close by. She has two grown daughters, Marty and Dana, one son-in-law, John, one granddaughter, Mallory and one grandson, Brent. Millie and Brent like to work in the yard, and Mallory and Millie like to shop. Millie likes to travel, to go to the opera, to go to plays, to go to tea parties, to attend Bible studies, to read Christian romance books, to watch old movies and to go to the symphony.

In 2008, Millie was certified by the American School of Protocol as an etiquette consultant. She now has The Etiquette School of the Gulf Coast. The classes for this school are taught in her home.

Lauren Kern - Editor-in-Chief

Lauren Kern is an alumni of the Omega Chapter of Forrest City, Arkansas. During her time as an Omega, she was elected Pledge Class President, Assistant Pledge Mistress, and Recording Secretary. She represented her chapter as the Outstanding Member. Also, Lauren was a recipient of her chapters Wanda Bedell Scholarship. She was slated for the Board of Regents at the 81st National Convention in Mobile, Alabama. This will be Lauren's 4 year on the National Board. She has held the positions of Historian, Custodian, and Editor-In-Chief. She is very excited to continue to play a part in DBS. Lauren will be starting her Senior year at Texas Tech University in the fall to major in special education with an emphasis on Autism. As the year starts, Lauren will be student teaching in a 2nd grade classroom. She hopes to continue working in the area of Special Education as a teacher in a low-income school distirct. At Texas Tech, Lauren is the President and State Secretary of the Texas State Teacher's Association Student Program. She has had the priveldge of bring on the President's and Dean's List. Also, she is an undergraduate research assistant for Project CASE.  In her spare time, she loves reading, taking pictures, watching movies, and spending time with loved ones!   

Mallory Wright - At-Large

Mallory was elected to the National Board of Regents at the 84th Annual Convention in Hot Springs, Arkansas. During the 84th convention Mallory was given the honor of being the first recipient of the National Outstanding Legacy Award. Moreover, she received the Wanda Bedell Scholarship to the school of her choice. Mallory was an initiate of the Theta Kappa chapter.  

Mallory recently graduated from Louisiana Tech University with a bachelor of art in psychology. Mallory was a member of Phi Mu Fraternity during her collegiate days. She will be continuing her studies at Louisiana Tech University as she pursues her Ph.D. in industrial-organizational psychology.
