Officer Spotlight- Kennedy McClanahan

Today's Officer Spotlight is Kappa Rho President Kennedy McClanahan.

Kennedy is currently serving as the President of the Kappa Rho chapter and has previously served as the Record Keeping Chair. She attends the Academies of West Memphis where she is the Vice President of Mu Alpha Theta, Secretary of Beta Club, and a member of the West Memphis Golf Team.

Questions for Kennedy:

Biggest goal for your chapter this year: As a chapter, we would like to get out in the community and make a difference! We have decided we are going to make community service a must this year!

Advice to new DBS members: DBS is where you gain your real sisters! They are the ones you are going to have to fall back on when something doesn't go quite the way you would like! If you're willing to put in the effort, the pay off is incredible!

Favorite DBS memory: My greatest memory was at the election meeting! I was thrilled when I was announced President! I was ecstatic that I could follow in my mother's footsteps in the same chapter she was in!



Officer Spotlight- Madeline Enlow

Today's Officer Spotlight is Tau chapter President Madeline Enlow.

Madeline is currently serving as the Tau President and previously served as Historian Reporter. She attends Ouachita Christian School where is serves as Senior Class President and the soccer team FCA leader.

Questions for Madeline:

Biggest goal for your chapter: I want our girls to better the community while bettering ourselves. I hope we grow close to each other throughout the year and encourage everyone around us, including all our beautiful sisters!

Advice to new DBS members: Get out of your comfort zone!! Make new friends, take new roles, and have fun in everything you do!

Favorite DBS Memory: Getting my littles, Katie Bailey and Bethany Joiner, and joining my big, Reagan McCrary, in THE BEST FAM EVER!

I'm attending my dream school, Mississippi State, in the fall of 2018!!


Officer Spotlight- Madison McGhee

Today's officer spotlight is Lambda chapter President Madison McGhee.

Madison is the current Presiden of the Lambda chapter and has previously served as Vice President - Philanthropy and pledge class President. She is currently a senior at Southside High School in Fort Smith AR and is involved in competitive swimming.

Madison's biggest goal for the Lambda chapter this year is "to go above and beyond on this year's National Philanthropy."

When asked for advice for new DBS members she said, "My advice to new members is to get involved as much as you can. The more you get involve the more you will love DBS and make new life long friends."

Madison said her favorite DBS memory is when she got her big sister, Katie Hines. She said "We didn't know each other before DBS and now we are still best friends."



Officer Spotlight- Millie Shankle

Today's officer spotlight is National Treasurer Millie Shankle!

Millie joined the board in 1992 and has served as National Historian, Parliamentarian Editor-in-Chief, 1st Vice President, 2nd Vice President, and Secretary-Treasurer. She is an initiate of the Tau chapter where she served as Sergeant at Arms and President. Millie is currently a high school teacher in Mobile, Alabama.

Favorite DBS Memory: Lots of memories--Mallory being able to be in Theta Kappa and then serving on the board with me. In high school lots of wonderful friends who I would not have known if I had not been in DBS. 

Life and Family: Millie attended Baylor University- the picture above is from a reunion with her friends from her college years. She then completed a Masters of Art in Teaching at Nova University. In addition to teaching and DBS, Millie serves on the Alabama State FBLA board and teaches Sunday school. 

National At-Large Officer Mallory Wright is Millie's granddaughter. Millie is also very close to her two daughters. They have coffee together every Sunday afternoon and like to take trips together!


Officer Spotlight- Rebecca Pollet

Today's officer spotlight is National President Rebecca Pollet!

Rebecca joined the board in 2007 and has served as National Historian, Custodian, Editor-in-Chief, and 1st Vice President. She is an initiate of the Lambda chapter where she served as Recording Secretary and Corresponding Secretary. She currently lives in Michigan where she works as a postdoctoral research at the University of Michigan. She studies how the bacteria in our intestines help us break down food, especially starch from potatoes and corn (picture below is her in the lab!).

Favorite Candy: Peanut M&Ms

Life and Family: She completed a Bachelors degree at Univeristy of Tulsa and a PhD in Biochemistry at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is an alumna of Kappa Delta sorority and continues to volunteer with collegiate chapters. She also does science outreach through an organization called Michigan DNA Day- they visit high school classrooms to teach lessons about DNA! 

My husband, Lucas, is training to be a barber but he only does traditional men's haircuts so he won't cut my hair! 

Favorite DBS Memory: Every single year when we announce how much money the chapters raised for our national philanthropy. It's especially great when we have a representative from the organization because their face is always priceless!
