National Board of Regents

The National Board of Regents is the ruling body of Delta Beta Sigma composed of nine alumnae that oversees the functions of all active chapters across the country. Board members are elected annually at the Delta Beta Sigma National Convention.

 

Hannah Knies


National President

Hannah Knies is an alumna of the Tau Chapter and served as Recruitment/Convention Chair and Recording Secretary during her years as an active member. She was also voted her chapter’s Outstanding Member and was honored to be named the National Outstanding Member during National Convention in 2013. That same year, she was elected to serve as Custodian for the National Board of Regents and later served as Parliamentarian and Vice President - Sisterhood, where she developed the new Delta Beta Sigma New Member Education program.

Hannah graduated from Louisiana Tech University with a Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree in English Literature. Hannah is currently a middle school STEM/ELA teacher and lives with her husband Austin, teen foster daughter, and dog Olan in Indiana.

 

Fiona Franks


National Vice President - Philanthropy

Fiona is an alumna of the Omega chapter where she served as Historian Reporter and President. She was voted Outstanding Member for her chapter and went on to be recognized as National Outstanding Member in 2020.

 

Anna Marie Latham


National Vice President - Sisterhood

Anna Marie Latham is an alumna of the Tau Chapter where she served as Secretary for two years. She graduated from Louisiana Tech University with a degree in elementary education and currently works as a special education teacher. She has served National DBS as an At-Large Member, Social Media Chair, and the Vice President - Sisterhood.

 

Valerie Davis


National Secretary

Valerie Davis is an alumna of the Alpha Beta Chapter where she served as the Assistant Pledge Mistress and Pledge Mistress during her years as an active member. She also served her chapter for many years as Chapter Mom and Head Chapter Mom. Valerie was elected to the National Board of Regents at the 2011 National Convention and has served as Historian, 2nd Vice President, 1st Vice President and Secretary. She has always enjoyed Convention and especially remembers “back in the day” all the chapters singing up and down the halls of the hotel and in the dining room. At Convention, she holds an interactive workshop to teach the fun “old” DBS songs to the members.

Valerie has been married to her husband, Tony, for 37 years. They live on the family farm where they have raised an abundance of crops but most importantly two children - one son, who was a DBS sweetheart and graduated from the University of Central Arkansas, and a daughter, who served her DBS chapter as president and a graduate of the University of Mississippi. Her constant companion these days is her lab Zoey who loves to go with her everywhere. In her spare time, Valerie enjoys traveling, spending time at the lake and spending time with her family, especially new granddaughter, Parker.

 

Rebecca Pollet


National Treasurer

Rebecca is an alumna of the Lambda Chapter where she served as Recording and Corresponding Secretary. She was voted Lambda's Outstanding Member and received the honor of National Outstanding Member in June 2007. At the same convention, she was elected to the National Board of Regents as Historian. Since then she has also served on the National Board as Custodian, Editor -in-Chief, First Vice-President, and President.

She received a Bachelor's of Science in Biochemistry from the University of Tulsa in 2011. She is an alumna of Kappa Delta sorority and served as Secretary, Vice President-Operations, and President of her collegiate chapter. She received her Ph.D. in biochemistry from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and currently works as a chemistry professor at Vassar College in New York.

 

Lauren Smith


National Editor-in-Chief

Lauren Smith is an alumna of the Omega Chapter of Forrest City, Arkansas. During her time as an Omega, she was elected Pledge Class President, Assistant Pledge Mistress, Corresponding Secretary, and Recording Secretary. She represented her chapter as the Outstanding Member. Also, Lauren was a recipient of her chapter’s Wanda Bedell Scholarship. She was slated for the Board of Regents at the 81st National Convention in Mobile, Alabama. She has held the positions of Historian, Custodian, and Editor-In-Chief of the annual publication The Beta.

Lauren is a graduate of Texas Tech University. At Texas Tech, Lauren was the President and State Secretary of the Texas State Teacher's Association Student Program. Lauren is currently an elementary school teacher and holds multiple leadership roles in her school. In her spare time, she loves reading, taking pictures, watching movies, and spending time with loved ones! Lauren and her husband have two cats that they adore-Luke & Rey Skywalker!

 

Gracie Fason


At-Large Member

Gracie is an alumna of the Phi Delta Chapter and served as Fundraising Chair. She was recognized as her chapter’s Outstanding Member in 2022 and went on to be honored as the National Outstanding Member that same year. Gracie currently attends the University of Arkansas where she is a Delta Gamma.

 

Faith Rogers


At-Large Member

Faith is an alumna of the Phi Delta Chapter and served as Vice President - Sisterhood. Faith was recognized as her chapter’s Outstanding Member in 2021.

 

Jessica Rowe


At-Large Member

Jessica is an alumna of the Phi Delta Chapter and served as Pledge Mistress and President during her years as an active member. She was voted her chapter’s Outstanding Member in 2020.

 

Jillian Norman


Historian & Social Media Chair

Jillian is an alumna of the Tau Chapter and served as VP-Philanthropy and President during her years as an active member. She was voted her chapter’s Outstanding Member in 2022.

 

Aastha Oza


Website Chair & Convention PR Chair

Aastha is an alumna of the Beta Phi chapter where she served as Historian Reporter and VP-Member Education. She was voted Outstanding Member for her chapter and went on to be recognized as National Outstanding Member in 2023. Aastha currently attends the University of Tennessee Knoxville. She is also an EMT and Medical Assistant and hopes to pursue a career as an Emergency Medicine Physician. She volunteers for Letters for Rose, Greenhouse Ministries, and various other research organizations. In her spare time, she likes to run, go on hikes, and be outside!
