Wanda Bedell Scholarship

It’s finally that time of the year where many of Delta Beta Sigma’s high school seniors begin applying to the Wanda Bedell Scholarship. If you are an active high school senior member of Delta Beta Sigma, this is your reminder to apply to the scholarship by March 10th! You must be entering an accredited college, university, or post-secondary institution in the fall semester following high school graduation. We award one $2,000 prize and two $600 prizes!

Now that we’ve talked about the scholarship, let’s explore who Wanda Bedell was. Mrs. Wanda Bedell was a stellar member of this organization, and she was highly involved. She eventually served on the Board of Regents, and due to her commitment, Delta Beta Sigma offers three scholarships in her name which serve as an inspiration for members to continue pursuing high academic success. I encourage you to think about how you can leave a legacy like Mrs. Wanda Bedell.

Let us take a look at last year’s winners and how the scholarship has impacted them.

Katie Grace King

University of Arkansas

What an honor to be chosen for the Delta Beta Sigma scholarship. Not only have the funds helped to further my education, but they have also allowed me to attend the school of my dreams. Truly thankful to have been chosen for this unique opportunity. Loyally, Katie Grace.”

Abbey Feasel

University of Tennessee Chattanooga

“This scholarship has been such a blessing and an honor to receive. With it I was able to put $600 towards my college tuition that I’m paying for by myself. I am so thankful that I was able to use this to forward my future and career.”

Jillian Norman

Louisiana State University

“In the application process, I remember there being a response about what DBS has done for me and what skills I learned. Through all the reflection to write the response I was overflowing with ideas! DBS brought me friendship, taught me leadership and gave me memories I will cherish forever. Now, as a scholarship winner and alumna, it has given me even more opportunities in college to further my education.”
